Whilst requiring some effort to work with, artichokes reward the patient and determined chef with a very individual flavour that is flexible in a wide variety of cooking styles and traditions, bringing something decidedly different to lots of dishes.We stock seasonal varieties of Globe and Jerusalem artichokes, ensuring that our Fylde Coast customers have options for soups, risotto, pizzas and other dishes for which artichokes have become famous. A modern tendency is to stuff the artichokes with ingredients like bread, oregano, cheese, sausage and other meats before steaming or boiling the vegetable with the ingredients inside. This creates a dish bursting with goodness and flavour.
Options for cooking include boiling, frying and, with some varieties, eating them raw, but ask us about this or consult your favourite cookbook if unsure. Many of our customers prefer to treat artichokes as a truly seasonal foodstuff, though others will be content to eat it out of season too.
